Kris is beautiful, and I don’t just mean physically. Kris is so much more than just a gorgeous face. A lot of people have this misconception that all Kris stans only like Kris for his godly looks, or that Kris is nothing but a handsome face, but this is so far from the truth. Kris is an incredible human being, and he possesses so much beauty inside.

One thing I love about Kris is his compassion. He is one of the most kind and genuine people I’ve ever known.  Kris never fails to show sincere kindness and patience from the way he treats his members, to the way he treats his fans, and those around him. We’ve seen so many fancams and read countless fanaccounts of Kris’ kind nature at airports and with fans. We’ve seen him buy extra luggage to carry fangifts, give fans chocolates, tell security not to hit the fans, and we’ve seen him always make an effort to acknowledge his fans and those with camera’s and such.

I love the way he smiles at his fans. It’s like he’s genuinely happy to see them. There’s sincerity in his eyes and a kindness in his voice when he’s talking to them. He is always polite and respectful to them and he’s always concerned about their safety and well-being. For example, that day in the airport when he bought new luggage to carry their gifts, there were fancams of him sitting and talking with the fans there. It was so sweet to see him being totally and completely normal around them, treating them as if they’re his actual friends. Not a hint of annoyance or discomfort. He was genuinely happy to be with them. At the airport in Canada, he had no obligations to acknowledge or interact with the fans because he wasn’t with his manager, and he was there on his own as Wu Yi Fan, not as Kris the idol. And yet, he smiled and waved at everyone, and even though his friends kept asking the fans to leave him alone, and even though the paparazzi was being rude, he was kind and patient and kept his cool, and he stopped to take a picture with his fans and even chatted with them for a bit. He didn’t run away or try to avoid them like other celebrities do; he didn’t treat them like he was above them in any way. Kris is not one of those pompous celebrities that ignore fans. He doesn’t seem himself that way. Kris sees himself like this normal guy, and he treats his fans like his friends. He cares for them, and cherishes them, and protects them when he can. He is so incredibly humble and human, and that to me is amazing. There is nothing fake about how much he loves his fans.

He doesn’t have to sign autographs at the airport, he doesn’t have to talk to fans, he doesn’t have to accept their gifts, he doesn’t have to smile or wave or even acknowledge them. He doesn’t have to do anything for them, no one is forcing him to do any of the things he does. In fact, his managers would probably prefer it if he didn’t. They usually don’t allow the members to spend time with fans like that. To Kris, all of those things that he does with fans isn’t just “fan service.” He doesn’t do it to save face or to put on a show. To Kris, he’s just being himself. He doesn’t know how to be mean or distant this was just kris being himself, being his genuine loving self. He is such a warm-hearted person and that is what I love most about him, his love for others, and his selfless nature. Spending 300 dollars to buy a suitcase just to carry all their gifts was an easy price to pay because money is nothing to him in comparison to how much his fans mean to him, and how much we’ve given him. We are the reason he is where he is. EXO is a top group because of our dedication. He owes us fans so much and he knows this, which is why he’s always trying to show us how much he cares, how much he appreciates everything that we do. He shows us his gratitude in any way that he can like by waving and smiling at fancammers, treasuring our fanletters and fangifts, and putting effort into a performance to show us his best, or updating his renren or the official website and leaving kind words for his precious “My every you.” Kris has a very close relationship with his fans, and I love that so much about him. I love how cute (aka greasy lol) and playful he is with fans as well, it’s so adorable.

And he shows this compassion with his members as well. We’ve all learned that Kris is the one who takes care of them when they’re sick and goes out to buy medicine. And Tao has told us that Kris spoils him, and buys him anything he wants, and is willing to shower with him, and basically treat him like a little brother. The way I see it, Kris is sort of the big brother or as they call him, the dad of EXO. He cooks for them on occasion (even if it’s not very good lol) and he buys them things when they go out and in an interview he even said he would give any of his possessions to the the members if they asked (“If another member wants one of my belonging, I can give it all” -Kris). He knows that they depend on him, and he makes is his responsibility not to let them down. And it’s clear that he genuinely loves them as if they were his real family. And don’t even get me started on his love for children omg /HOW TO LIVE/ seeing him being so playful and gentle and sweet, he even went down on his knees to be at their eye level was just the most adorable thing ever. Kris is truly a warm soul. 

As a leader, his is very mature and levelheaded, which is something I really admire about him. It’s apparent that he really takes his role as leader with the utmost importance. The role of leader is not an easy one, because the leader is the one who takes full responsibility when his group members make a mistake. Their job is to control the group, and keep then in line, and if they don’t, it’s on him. The managers will scold him for his members misbehavior or mistakes (he’s said once that he fears his managers a bit ;~; the poor bby). But despite all of this weight on his shoulders he always remains calm and professional in interviews and public events. He’s always the one who is prepared during interviews, knowing exactly what to say at what time, ready for any question that might be thrown at him, and although he allows the other members to step in and speak whenever they want, he’s always there for them when they need help, or when they are stuck or lost. He doesn’t get angry at them when they make mistakes; he is patient and understanding and picks them up when they’ve fallen. He doesn’t pressure them in any way; he’s fine taking the lead since that’s his job. And he does it well. His leadership skills seem to come naturally to him. If they don’t want to talk, then he will speak on their behalf. Anyways, I love that he always has something insightful to say, and he is very eloquent with how he speaks, and he always adds in witty little comments here and there, and seems to really enjoy public speaking. I could honestly listen to him speak for hours. I never get tired of hearing his voice.

I love the way he presents himself. The image he’s chosen to portray. He portrays himself as a modest, yet fiercely strong leader, who is determined and driven to succeed. I love that he’s humble. He has never spoken highly of himself. He doesn’t claim to be perfect, or god-like, how we see him. In happy camp, he put himself in spot 6, right in the middle, when asked “who is most popular with girls.” And he showed genuine surprise and embarrassment when they showed the video of EXO showing their answers and they nearly all voted for Kris. And when the MC’s asked for those who think they should be the visual to raise their hand, they question Kris as to why he didn’t raise his hand because clearly his looks are beyond comparison, but he just got all wide eyed and flustered and said “Because I’m NOT the visual?!?!?!”Dismissing their compliment and expressing with his reaction that he doesn’t think he is worthy of that spot. He also very polite and mannered to everyone around him, which many staff members have pointed out. He has also shown that he is also very valiant. After their debut stage in that Chinese awards show, when that MC made that curt remark, he very unaffectedly corrected her and said “We have 4 Chinese members here.” He could’ve easily ignored it, but he chose not to. He chose not to be afraid, or embarrassed, or hurt. He didn’t let his emotions show. He didn’t let it ruin that special evening for them. He stood up for his members, and defended them, humbly. My admiration for him grew after that. He’s not the type who will admit defeat, or accept failure. He’s strong-willed.

Kris is a hard worker. Kris knows he isn’t as good a dancer as Kai, or as good a singer as Chen, but he still pushes himself beyond his comfort level to show us that he is trying and that he is capable. He has said in a magazine interview that it makes him said when he hears comments that he is “useless.” Recently with this new release of the XOXO album, we’ve all listened to the songs and noticed Kris singing in a lot of the tracks! To everyone who has ever said he was useless, after hearing him sing, they were proven wrong. I wish I could tell Kris how much we all loved hearing his voice in the album, and that we hope to hear more of it in the future because he has a beautiful voice.

Kris came to Korea when he was only 17 years old, he didn’t speak the language, and he didn’t have anyone there that he knew. Here he was a teenager, alone in a foreign country, being asked to sing and dance for long hours of the day. We’ve all read stories about how difficult trainee life can be, but imagine on top of that physical strain, not being able to speak the language of the country you’re in? I’m sure it was a scary and difficult experience for Kris, I can’t even imagine what that’d be like, being so far away from my family and home, and not having anyone to turn to. He’s said before that at times he felt like quitting, but he didn’t. He endured. He worked hard, he studied, he made friends, he was strong, and he persisted. He debuted and now he’s here. The leader of EXO. He’s making his name known around the world, he’s leaving his mark behind, and he’s changing the lives of others just as he has changed mine. Seeing him cry at the billboard awards when they won that award was really touching to witness. Kris broke down in tears remembering how hard it was for him and his  group, all that he had to overcome in his journey to that moment, the late night training sessions, the phone calls home, the feeling of being homesick, those moments when he felt useless and the negative thoughts filled his mind and he wanted to give up, all the work that went into getting to that stage, getting to where you are now, you broke down when you realized you guys did it, and that it was all worth it in the end. I want to tell how important he is to everyone, how needed he is in the group, to never doubt himself and feel useless again. Kris inspires people, motives people, brings others happiness just as he has brought me happiness.

Kris is just such an adorable human being too. In shows we’ve seen Kris make a complete fool of himself, totally ruining his cool guy image he’s worked so hard to maintain, and it’s the cutest thing in the world. I love how cool Kris thinks he is, when in reality we all know what a completely adorable awkward loser he actually is lol. After 1 year of their debut, Kris has started to come out of his shell. Before he was serious and stoic most of the time, and cute was not a word in his vocabulary lol. Now, he’ll make silly faces on programs and not care that he’s ruining his god like cold leader image, smile that adorable gummy smile of his without hesitation, play around with the members more, and of course show us more of his glorious “Kriscasso” art work. He’s letting loose and showing us more of his funny silly side, and I love it. Kris is getting cuter and more outgoing each day, and it’s so exciting to see.

I love Kris so much for who he is as a person and because he motivates me and inspires me to be a better person. I don’t know the “real” Kris and I definitely don’t claim to, but based on the small things that he’s shown us, it’s not hard to see that Kris possesses a beautiful heart. There’s nothing fake about how he treats his member or how he loves his fans, there’s nothing false about how he values hard work and dedication. And I know though there’s so much that I still don’t know about him, but I think that’s what makes him so exciting. We still have many years to come on this journey with EXO, and I look forward to discovering new things about Kris to fall in love with!
